Corrections Policy

Last Updated: February 22, 2026

Our Commitment to Accuracy

The Words Record is committed to maintaining the highest standards of factual accuracy across all documented content. Every statement, case, and biographical entry in our archive is subject to ongoing verification and review.

When errors are identified — whether by our editorial team, external reviewers, or members of the public — we follow a transparent correction process. All corrections are logged in our audit trail and reflected in the relevant content with full attribution.

Types of Corrections

We handle the following categories of corrections:

  • Factual errors — Incorrect dates, names, attributions, or misrepresented facts
  • Attribution errors — Statements attributed to the wrong person or organisation
  • Missing information — Material omissions that affect the accuracy or completeness of an entry
  • Date errors — Incorrect or imprecise dates for events or statements
  • Privacy concerns — Content that inadvertently discloses private information
  • Copyright issues — Content that infringes on intellectual property rights

How to Submit a Correction

If you have identified an error or omission in any content on The Words Record, we encourage you to submit a correction. Our process follows six steps:

1

Identify the Issue

Specify the exact statement, case, or entry that contains the error or omission. Include the page URL where possible.

2

Provide Evidence

Include verifiable sources that support your correction. Primary sources (original documents, official records, direct quotes) are preferred.

3

Submit Details

Use our report form or email corrections@thewordsrecord.com with all relevant information.

4

Verification Review

Our editorial team will review the submitted information and verify it against available sources. We aim to acknowledge receipt within 48 hours.

5

Implementation

Valid corrections are implemented with full transparency. The original content is updated and the correction is recorded in our audit log.

6

Notification

If you provided contact details, you will be notified of the outcome and any changes made as a result of your submission.

Response Timeline

We aim to process corrections according to the following timeline:

  • Acknowledgement: Within 48 hours of receipt
  • Initial review: Within 5 working days
  • Implementation: Valid corrections are applied as soon as verification is complete
  • Notification: Within 24 hours of implementation

Critical corrections (factual errors affecting the core meaning of an entry) are prioritised and may be resolved within 24 hours.

Transparency

All corrections are recorded in our internal audit trail. When a correction materially changes the content of an entry, the change history is preserved. We do not silently alter content — all substantive changes are logged and attributable.

The Words Record maintains editorial independence in all correction decisions. We evaluate corrections based on verifiable evidence, not on the identity or affiliation of the submitter.
